Golf Society

IChemE golf has arrived! For several years IChemE has been considering the launch of a golf society for members. Then, during a discussion following SRG's appointment as an approved recruitment agency in 2007, we were convinced to help get the society off the ground!!

In August 2008 all the members of IChemE were e-mailed about the society.  By the start of September, 75 members had expressed an interest and the first event was scheduled.   See below.

9th October 2008 - Prestbury Golf Club - launch event - 12 IChemE golfers took on the challenging Prestbury course which has been used as a Qualifying venue for the Open Golf Championship.  We had a top event and the winners were:

Nearest the pin:  Lewis Walker
Longest drive:     Daniel Burton
Overall winner:   Mike Ellingham

28-30 October 08 - ChemEng08 - the golf society was featured on the SRG stand at ChemEng08 and over 100 people took part in our nearest the pin competition, which was won by Paul Muir.  Also another 30 individuals signed up for the society events for 2009 which takes our total membership to over 100.  

Schedule - we are currently putting together a schedule which will cater for golfers of all abilities throughout the UK. 

10th July 2009 - Forest of Arden - Summer championship - 9 holes Aylesford to warm up, lunch, 18 holes on the Arden championship course.

The society will become a self-run organisation and the cost of all events will be covered by the members attending.  There is no fee for joining at this stage - and all members of IChemE and their guests are welcome.
