Do you have a strong chromatography background analysing food products?
Do you have experience in Lipids, Oils, or Fats?
A global leader at the forefront of scientific analysis, product development, training and consultancy who serves the food, pharmaceutical, and consumer goods industries is looking for an Investigative Scientist to join their team.
You will contribute to this by undertaking analyses for clients, both external and internal, in the area of lipids, oils and fats, contaminants and other chemical residues.
Accountabilities:
- Act in compliance with all relevant QEHS policies and procedures. To maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment.
- Managing and undertaking when necessary a range of investigative and routine analyses using HPLC and GC.
- To train scientific staff and ensure that the training programme is maintained.
- Providing support for senior management to ensure the smooth business and scientific operation of the Investigative Analysis laboratory.
- Keeping up to date with industrial issues, new methodology / instrumentation via literature searches and attending seminars / meetings and membership of scientific / industrial societies / committees- feedback to Investigative Analysis team and Science Committee.
- Providing support to analytical research projects and business units. Contribute to project planning meetings and offer technical support to project managers.
Pre-requisites
Essential
- Science based degree MSc or PhD or equivalent in Biochemistry / Chemistry / Food Science with a proven track record of relevant laboratory experience, industrial or research.
- Evidence of successful research project delivery including reviewing literature.
- Proficient in chromatographic techniques for food analysis e.g. TLC, HPLC, GC
- Evidence of ability to interpret complex chromatography data and an ability to apply that to technical solutions.
- Excellent communication skills including report writing and evidence of presenting scientific data.
- Evidence of cross functional teamwork.
- Computer literate and dextrous with the desire to learn new techniques.
Desirable
- Background knowledge of lipids/ oils and fats.
- Networking, influencing & cross-selling skills, ability to develop commercial relationships.
- Ability to discuss and understand clients specific needs (internal & external) & to deal with queries as appropriate.
- Ability to undertake method development and validation.
